Under the simple title "Serbian Songs" or "Folk Songs of the Serbs", creations of Serbian folk poetry have found their way into German literature since the beginning of the last century. There was something different: an important translator, the interest of important contemporaries, and the flow of romance, which helped the poems to travel happily. Translated by Stefan Schlotzer. Unter dem schlichten Titel "Serbische Lieder" oder auch "Volkslieder der Serben" haben seit dem Beginn des vorigen Jahrhunderts Schöpfungen der serbischen Volkspoesie in die deutsche Literatur Einzug gehalten. Es kam verschiedenes zusammen: eine bedeutende Übersetzerin, das Interesse bedeutender Zeitgenossen und die Strömung der Romantik, die den Dichtungen zu glücklicher Fahrt verhalf.
